Jake Meade Hits The Ton

Sunday 22 May 2022

A huge congratulations to Jake Meade, who brought up his 100th game for the Monash Blues yesterday.

Hailing from Gippsland, Jake burst onto the scene at the Ashes in 2014 with an afro to rival Guy Sebastian’s, quickly earning himself the nickname “Poodle” as a result.

With a runners-up in the Senior B&F in his second year at the club, Poodle’s athleticism, hunt for the contest and ability to kick on both feet have shone through since day one. Known for his love of heavy metal, Jake’s teammates keep him away from the changeroom speakers pre-game. Off field, he has been a great contributor to the club over many years, willing to put his hand up for any task as required. Whilst he would now be considered a quiet achiever on the social front, Poodle’s more outgoing self has occasionally been let off the leash over the years, notably conducting social experiments regarding dinosaur preferences in his early days at the club.

Injury plagued the middle part of Jake’s Monash career (where an infection almost lost him his foot!), he has worked his way back to full fitness in recent times and is again a mainstay in the senior Back 6, earning a place in the Premier C Team of the Year for his efforts in 2021. Congrats again Poodle on your 100 game milestone for the Blues!
