Vale Ross Booth

The Monash University Blues Football Club mourns the recent passing of Ross Booth.

Commencing with the Club in 1971, Ross played over 100 games, captaining the Seniors in 1973 and 1974, and winning the Best and Fairest in both of those years. After Monash, Ross played with University Blacks and was runner up in the A section B&F in 1976. He was also a Big V representative player.

Selection in the Monash Team of the Half Century in 2011 confirmed his status as one of the best players to ever wear the turquoise and silver.

Not only was Ross an icon at Monash, so too was he a champion of the VAFA, serving on the Board for 25 years and becoming a Life Member of the Association in 2003.

Off the field he was well known as a knowledgeable commentator of VFA and VFL games on the ABC, and as a lecturer in Sports Economics at Monash from 2001. He was still working in the Monash Business School at the time of his death.

"Boothy" was a fine footballer and a fine man. The Monash family will sorely miss him.
