Jim Celebrated His 150th In Style

Friday 16 June 2023

On Saturday 3rd June, one of our great club people, James Hertan, quietly had a four-goal day at Gordon Barnard Reserve. A fitting way for all of us to pause and acknowledge Jim's 150th match for the Monash Blues.

Since joining the Club in 2008, "the Pain Factory", as he was once affectionately known, has been a popular and multitalented member of the Ashes. Playing in the Reserves, Thirds and Fourths for us over the years, Jim captained the Thirds in 2013 and has always led from the front. Being everywhere his coaches needed him, Jim has been the pillar of the backline, consistently taking intercept marks; the around-the-ground general in the ruck; and the invaluable goalkicker leading out from the square. Having played so many matches in defense and on the ball, it's a testament to how versatile Jim has been that the four goals he kicked in his 150th brings his career total at Monash to 92 goals.

A crucial component in the Fourths' Premiership season in 2018 (he is pictured here receiving his Premiership medallion), Jim was awarded life Membership of the Football Club the following year (pictured below).

On behalf of everyone at the Monash University Blues, we congratulate James Hertan on his 150th match and thank him for his wonderful years of service to our Club.
