The Monash University Blues are pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Batten as Under 19s coach for the upcoming season. He joins us from Old Xaverians where he has coached their second Under 19 team for the past four seasons. He also played football at the Old Xaverians.
Football Operations Manager Brad Jamison was pleased to secure someone with Batten's experience. "Andrew has a really strong understanding of the VAFA Under 19 competition having spent time with the Old Xavs. His values align with those of the Club, so we're very excited to have him guide our next group of Under 19 players through at Monash".
"Our Under 19 program is somewhat unique in that much of the team are country based students who are yet to arrive in Melbourne, so the timing of Andrew's appointment coincides nicely with the player arrivals during O-Week and the first week of the University semester".
With just 53 days until Round 1 of the Under 19 season, Batten and the team will get to work quickly in preparation for the season.
New players are welcome to attend training which is currently taking place on a Monday and Wednesday night at Frearson Oval. The Under 19s will continue to train with the seniors for the remainder of this week, before moving to 5.30pm on both Monday and Wednesday next week to cater for the additional numbers as Uni resumes.
